Presentation of the iPhone 6 (2014 – 2016)
Unveiled in September 2014 at the same time as the iPhone 6 Plus during a traditional Keynote, the iPhone 6 is a model of the 8th generation Apple iPhones. Compared to its predecessors, the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5C, the iPhone 6 has a bigger screen, better processor, better connectivity and a new iOS.
The characteristics of the iPhone 6
Screen
The iPhone 6’s screen is 4.7 inches larger than the iPhone 5s 4-inch screen. The resolution of this screen is also better: 1334 × 750 pixels against 1136 × 640.
Camera
Regarding the camera, there is no big change, but only an improvement of the strengths already present. The iPhone 6 therefore has an 8 megapixel lens with a f / 2.2 aperture at the rear and a 1.2 megapixel front camera opening at f / 2.2 on the front.
However, the novelty lies in this focusing technology called Focus Pixels, borrowed from professional photography, which allows you to shoot Full HD videos of 60 images per second and slow motion of 240 images per second (twice as much as the previous version). It also has the autofocus and the image stabilization on video. For the front camera, a burst mode and HDR video compatibility have been added.
Processor
At the processor level, the iPhone 6 has an A8 chip and an M8 coprocessor. This latest equipment improves the performance of the device in terms of calculation and graphics power. The more powerful processor does not consume more energy, on the contrary, it saves up to 50% more energy than the old A7 chip.
Connectivity
The connectivity of the iPhone 6 is also improved. If the device has 4G, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth like its predecessor, the iPhone 6 is faster. Thus, 4G LTE comes to equip this 8th generation model, allowing a data download speed of up to 150 Mbits / s, or 50 Mbits / s more than the old model. Wi-Fi connectivity is also faster with the 802.11 ac standard which allows a maximum speed of 433 Mbits / s.
Sensor
Just like the iPhone 5s, the iPhone 6 has several sensors such as Touch ID which recognizes a registered fingerprint, the gyroscope, the accelerometer, and the digital compass. It also has a new barometer to roughly estimate the user’s altitude.
Design
With the iPhone 6, it’s the end of the protruding edges that have only returned since the iPhone 12. The design has become thinner and above all more rounded. The iPhone 6 has clean curves and a sleek design, delighting any aesthetic-loving consumer.
Storage
Available in 16, 32, 64 or 128 GB, the iPhone 6 also has an internal memory of 1 GB.
Drums
On autonomy, the iPhone 6 has a better battery than its predecessor. This can last up to 250 hours in standby and 14 hours in communication is 4 hours more than the iPhone 5s.
Accessibility
In terms of accessibility, the iPhone 6 is equipped with a new feature helping the visually impaired: it includes a “Shade of gray”Which makes the screen more visible.
Weight and dimensions
The dimensions of the iPhone 6 are 138.1mm in height, 67mm in width, 6.9mm in thickness and it weighs 129g. It therefore offers a larger and thinner format than its predecessor.

Operating systems
The 8th generation smartphone works logically with the 8th version of the iOS operating system. The latter offers new features such as the application Health which gathers the user’s biometric information and provides a summary of their daily physical activity, a new keyboard QuickType which offers word suggestions, Family Sharing to manage multimedia family accounts including parental controls, and iCloud Drive. IPhone 6 is compatible with iOS version 12.4.
